Condensation forms when humid air comes into contact with a surface colder than the local dew point temperature. On chilled water pipes in data centers, dripping water can damage IT equipment and cause costly unplanned downtime. In cold storage facilities, accumulated condensation freezes on walkway surfaces, creating slip hazards and accelerating structural wear. Traditional elastomeric foams require excessive thickness to achieve acceptable performance in tropical climates, and their thermal efficiency declines as moisture penetrates the material over time.

Floor space and plenum volume in data centers and cold storage facilities are high-value assets. Traditional elastomeric foams typically require thicknesses of 50 mm or more to control condensation in tropical climates. Bulky insulation crowds under-floor plenums, restricts HVAC airflow and reduces available space for cable trays and infrastructure.


Additionally, elastomeric foam is prone to moisture degradation over time. Small surface cuts or poorly sealed joints allow water to penetrate the porous structure.
