The Day a Qingdao Refinery Saved $47k a Year with 8 mm of Coating
I was standing on a 48-inch hot-oil line in Qingdao last July – surface temperature 182 °C, ambient 36 °C with 90 % humidity. The original rockwool jacket was soaked, rusted C-steel underneath, and the energy bill was bleeding money.
We stripped a 10-meter test section, mixed our 20 μm hydrophobic aerogel powder (15 % by weight) into a two-component epoxy, and sprayed an 8 mm layer. Seven days of curing later we fired up the infrared camera again:
Old insulation → surface 108 °C (70 °C loss)
New aerogel coating → surface 46 °C (only 10 °C loss)
Calculated annual saving on that single line: 47 000 USD. Payback time? Under 9 months.
That’s what 0.015 W/m·K, zero water uptake and Class A1 fire rating can do in real life. No more CUI (corrosion under insulation), no more frequent jacket replacement, no more safety nightmares.
We keep three standard grades in stock and can tweak particle size, density and hydrophobicity in 7–10 days for your specific service temperature and corrosion environment – whether it’s LNG at −162 °C or steam tracing at 350 °C.
Want to run the numbers on your own lines? Send me a photo of your worst-performing pipe or vessel (WhatsApp +86 139 3392 9092) and I’ll shoot back a free heat-loss calculation + sample coating kit the same week.
Hebei Woqin has been doing this since 2012. We don’t just sell powder – we sell lower OPEX and longer asset life.
Let’s talk numbers.
