In the current market, procurement managers often face a confusing price spread: Why do some "Aerogel Blankets" cost 40 RMB/sqm while others exceed 140 RMB/sqm? Are the cheaper options "fake"? Or are the expensive ones over-engineered? To answer this, we must look past the marketing and examine the Manufacturing DNA.
Every high-performance aerogel must pass through four critical stages. A shortcut in any of these stages directly impacts the final TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and durability.
Sol-Gel (Hydrolysis & Condensation): The "Gene" of the aerogel. We precisely control the water content, solvent ratios, pH value, and gelation temperature. Even a slight deviation in hydrolysis time can lead to a non-uniform nano-skeleton, causing micro-cracks.
Aging: Wet gels are fragile. They must stay in the parent solution for a specific period to increase three-dimensional strength.
Modification (Hydrophobization): To prevent structural collapse during drying, we replace surface hydroxyl groups. Our process ensures the material is permanently hydrophobic throughout its entire thickness.
Drying (The Great Divider): This is where the price and quality gap is born.
| Process Method | TRL | Performance Stability | Best For | Reference Price |
| CO2 Supercritical | 8 | Highest. Zero structure collapse. | Oil & Gas, High-Temp Steam | 120-140 RMB/sqm |
| Composite Dipping | 6 | Good. Flexible application. | EV Battery Cell Pads | 80-110 RMB/sqm |
| Ambient Drying | 5 | Moderate. Potential shrinkage. | Building Envelopes | 30-45 RMB/sqm |
| Ethanol SC / Freeze | 3-7 | Variable. Research stage. | Laboratory R&D | N/A |

The 100 RMB/sqm price difference isn't just "profit"—it's Equipment and Stability Cost.
CO2 Supercritical requires expensive Class-A industrial facilities and high-pressure vessels. However, it ensures the bone structure of the aerogel never collapses, maintaining a $0.02\text{ W/(m}\cdot\text{K)}$ conductivity for 20 years.
Ambient Pressure is simpler and cheaper but consumes massive amounts of solvents for replacement and modification. If the process is not mature, the aerogel may "powderize" or shrink over time, losing its insulation value.
To maintain our technical edge, we track the world’s most extreme aerogel benchmarks, especially those designed for the 2026 EV battery standards:
Extreme Heat Performance: Continuous survival at 1000°C; survives 1300°C for 1025 seconds.
Laboratory Tested Conductivity:
0.015 W/(m·K) @ RT
0.022 W/(m·K) @ 100°C
0.045 W/(m·K) @ 500°C
0.075 W/(m·K) @ 800°C
Physical Parameters: 1.0–4.0mm thickness | Density: 300 kg/m³ | Specific Heat: 0.97 J/(g·K) @ 23°C.
Our philosophy at Hebei Woqin is simple: Don't overpay for performance you don't need, but never compromise on safety.
For Oil & Gas / Extreme Industrial Use: You need the TRL 8 CO2 Supercritical Blanket. In a refinery, the risk of CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) or fire is too high for unproven tech. The $140\text{ RMB}$ investment is a hedge against millions in maintenance.
For EV Battery Safety (Cell-to-Cell): We monitor the highest industry standards—separators surviving 1300°C for 1025 seconds. This is "extreme safety" where cost is secondary to preventing thermal runaway.
For Building & HVAC: Ambient Pressure Drying (APD) products are perfectly adequate. For a villa's external wall or a fridge, you don't need to withstand 1000°C or 20 years of steam vibration. Save your budget and choose the 45 RMB/sqm option.
Aerogel is not a "one-size-fits-all" product. Understanding whether you need Molecular Stability (SC) or Cost Efficiency (APD) is the mark of a professional engineer. At Woqin, we provide the technical data you need to make that distinction with confidence.
